Sponsor a student sprint

Student sprints at the University of Cincinnati are a specialized form of educational or career development program where an employer partners directly with NEXT Innovation Scholars to sponsor a concentrated, short-term project or learning experience for students.

More about sprints at UC

Employers, range from tech companies, consulting firms, to any industry looking for specialized skills, partner with UC to sponsor these sprints. This partnership is part of UC's broader engagement with the industry through co-op programs, internships, and employer partnerships.

Similar to a 4-week bootcamp for tech certifications, a student sprint might span from a few days to several weeks. The structure focuses on intensive learning or project work, aiming to deliver specific outcomes or skills.

Sprints could cover various topics like technology (DevOps, Azure, etc.), project management, or even creative fields depending on UC's offerings and employer needs. The content would be tailored to meet industry needs directly, providing students with immediately applicable skills or knowledge.

The primary goal is to give students real-world experience, often in a project-based learning environment where they might work on actual employer projects or simulate real business scenarios. This not only enhances their resume but also prepares them for the job market with practical experience

Employers get to test potential future employees in a real work scenario, see their problem-solving abilities, and potentially hire those who excel with much less risk. It's a form of recruitment that also serves as training or a trial period.

Students benefit from gaining experience, potentially earning money or credits, networking with industry professionals, and sometimes even a job offer if their performance impresses the sponsoring employer.

The "sponsored" aspect means the employer covers costs associated with the sprint, which could include project materials, or even student pay. They may be additional costs associated depending upon the project.

UC collaborates with a select number of employers each year and space is limited. Contact us to learn more.
