Student Support

Students are responsible for being aware of important dates and deadlines for each term (e.g. course registration and drop deadlines, exam schedules, university breaks and holidays). Become familiar with the academic calendars listed on One Stop.

Academic Excellence and Support Services (AESS) is the home to both the Accessibility Resources Office and the Learning Commons. Students use AESS for a variety of reasons: to receive reasonable academic accommodations; to keep up with course assignments; get additional assistance when anticipating or experiencing academic difficulties; or to review for quizzes and exams. Students are encouraged to visit early and learn about the available resources for academic success.

University of Cincinnati undergraduate students are required to meet specific grade point average standards to remain in good academic standing. To avoid potential consequences of unmet standards, students should review the Undergraduate Academic Standing Policy.

The Bearcats Pantry provides free food, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies to students with food and other insecurities. The pantry also provides meal vouchers that can be used at campus dining halls. Bearcats Food Pantry to-go bags and meal vouchers are available at various sites around campus, including DAAP Student Affairs, 5470 Aronoff.

Canopy is the University of Cincinnati’s eLearning ecosystem. There are several tools available for students to use. Many instructors utilize Canvas for course information.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to providing service and training opportunities that advance the academic and personal growth needs of students. CAPS seeks to encourage self-awareness, personal responsibility, and healthy interpersonal relationships within a diverse environment. The Let’s Talk program is an informal, confidential conversation with a counseling staff member. Refer to the Let’s Talk website for the current schedule.

Students can review their progress towards degree by utilizing the Degree Audit that is available in Catalyst. Keep in mind that the degree audit is a tool to assist you with planning, but the college office is the final authority in determining completion of your degree requirements.

The Division of Experience-Based Learning and Career Education serves as a fully integrated career preparation hub within the University of Cincinnati. The division provides students with “real world” education opportunities, such as Co-operative Education (Co-op), as well as transition-to-career services like Career Coaching.

The Registrar’s Office has a listing of several university Policies and Procedures that you may need to reference throughout your time as a University of Cincinnati student. In addition to general university forms, there are some DAAP-specific forms that you may need to use to handle DAAP-related student business.

Are you thinking about a graduate program? The University of Cincinnati’s Graduate School has over 350 graduate degree and certificate programs.

The Office of Gender Equity & Inclusion (OGEI) responds to reports of sex- and gender-based harassment, violence, and discrimination. OGEI also houses Title IX, a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment in the form of sexual violence, dating or domestic violence, and stalking. You can make a report by calling OGEI at 513-556-3349, emailing them at titleix@uc.edu, or filing a report through their website. OGEI will follow up to provide resources and an invitation to speak with someone in the office to discuss how the University can take steps to address the impact on the complainant and the community. They will also inform the complainant of their rights and direct them to available resources.

For students considering making study abroad a part of their education, the first step in the process is contacting an advisor in the Office of International Programs.

One Stop Student Services is the customer service area representing the Offices of the Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid. The website is a centralized location where you can see upcoming important dates, find university forms, find classes, and view billing, financial aid, and personal records information.

DAAP students can schedule their advising appointment online through Starfish.

The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to inform students of their rights and responsibilities, identify procedures to address student behavior that conflicts with community values reflected in university policies, and recommend potential sanctions, interventions, and measures designed to educate and safeguard the Bearcat community and its members.

The Division of Student Affairs at the university offers a number of support services to meet students’ diverse needs. From hundreds of student organizations to professionally staffed offices, you will find co-curricular experiences of all types to help you progress academically, discover your values, and develop your identity.
