Collections and Archives

With a history of collecting for the past 200 years, the University of Cincinnati houses a vast repository of cultural heritage and creative research. Including dozens of unique collections, and archives that preserve, collect, and exhibit materials from wide variety of professional fields, this treasury provides rich educational opportunities for students and the public while also maintaining a valuable research resource for students, faculty, and experts in all fields.


The university collections encompass an expansive array of artifacts from disciplines including art, architecture, medicine and nursing, archives and rare books, the Herbarium, engineering, and chemistry among many others, that are accessible in both physical and digital form available to the university, regional community, and researchers globally.

Art Collection

Coming Soon: The Fine Arts Collection of the University of Cincinnati is an important resource of the University, local arts community, and region. The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning in collaboration with the UC Libraries are pleased to serve as its steward’s. We are committed to the Collection's preservation, interpretation, and presentation for the educational enrichment of both the University community and the general public.

Digital Collections

The Digital Collections and Repositories Unit of UC Libraries coordinates digitization, digital collection building, and digtal repository development.

Urban Studies

The Urban Studies Collection documents the development of the city in 20th and 21st century America, particularly in Greater Cincinnati, which serves as a case study area.

German Americana

The German-Americana Collection is one of the nation's largest collections of books, pamphlets, documents, journals, newspapers and manuscripts pertaining to German-American history, literature and culture, and is located in the Blegen Library in the Archives and Rare Books Library of the University of Cincinnati.

Margaret H. Fulford Herbarium

The Margaret H. Fulford Herbarium in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati (official acronym: CINC) is a natural history collection of plants and plant-like organisms.
