Museum Studies
Museum Studies or Museology is the study of museums. It explains the history of museums and their role in society, as well as the activities they engage in such as curating, preservation, public programming, and education.
Museum Studies
The Museum Studies Certificate Programs at the University of Cincinnati have been designed to focus on three main areas, museum education, collections, and exhibitions that leverage the outstanding resources within UC to provide diverse and meaningful experiences that expose students to the concepts and best practices employed within the museum world.
Through theoretical and direct experience students interested in pursuing a career within the museum field are provided unique opportunities through a partnership between the Museum Studies Certificate Program, DAAP Galleries, and the UC Art Collection. Students can take part in a holistic experience that encompasses the range of activities performed for the public as well as behind the scenes within museums around the globe and of every focus by providing access to collections, exhibitions, and course work.
